Chengalpattu , formerly known as Chingleput, is a town and a municipality in Kanchipuram district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is the headquarters of the Chengalpattu taluk of the district and is situated at a distance of 55 kilometres (34 mi) south-west of the state capital, Chennai on the national highway NH 45.
